Wonderful article. Thank you for introducing me to Dr. Dan and his advice. I think folks tend to err on the side of precaution, but more isn't always better and it's a good idea to know what you're talking about at the vet's office.

Just wanted to share ... last year, I ordered a coat for Enzo, my boy IG, from Sighthound Specialties Ebay store. Since the weather is getting colder, I'd pulled out the dogs coats the other day.

This morning, I put Enzo's coat on.. he actually was excited to see it and expressed his interest in wearing it... usually, he's not to fond of clothes. But this coat, he loves.

Later, I took it off, but he was having none of that... he nudged and wiggled and pushed at his coat until I put it right back on. Happy as a bug, snug in a rug... ;)

I may have to order him another one just so he'll have a switch.

It's a well made coat, fits him perfectly and is cute too.

Pet insurance is really big in the UK and it is thought that 1 in 3 pets actually require unexpected vet treatment every year.

What's great about the UK is that there are loads of different providers fighting for small market shares. This means the range of offerings is wide and gives customers the possibility to choose the type of cover they require: comprehensive, emergency or a mix of the two.

Our Puggle had the worst case of separation anxiety that I may have ever seen. We had to crate him when leaving home or else he would just destroy things. The crate fits were bad too. We'd come back from dinner, and the crate would be flipped over in the middle of the room.

Lots of treats and patience (peanut butter filled kongs) finally got him over the crate fits, and as time goes by the anxiety I feel is getting better.

My brother has a dachshund and your description fits Squiggy to a tee. My Rosie is part dachsy and part chihuahua, and has many of the dachsy's characteristics, like digging, and being a great watchdog. No one comes near our yard without notice that's for sure. Great article!

Gates are a bad thing. Our daddy put up a gate so that when I chase my brother and sister cats, they have a safe place to go to.

Hmmm... I guess gates are good for the cats after-all.

My experience with golden retrievers is that they are vastly intelligent dogs, who like their name, adore playing fetch and retrieving sticks, balls, etc. Very loving animals, and very hairy too, they are probably one of my favorite types of dog.
